Testing your Tracker Retrieve or Tracker Alert unit (not
necessary with Tracker SkyTrax) is quick and simple – and it is
an essential step to ensure that your unit is in good working
order. If your unit is not working, it becomes completely
ineffective and we are unable to locate your vehicle if it is
You only have to do it twice a year, and these tests are
completely free! It’s as easy as one, two, three...
1. Contact our Call Centre on 0860 60 50 40 to get a Personal
Identification Number (PIN) to test the unit.
2. Drive to one of over 100
Self Test Sites across the country. These are conveniently
situated at some 45 BP service stations throughout South Africa,
as well as a number of fitment centres and Insurance Assessment
3. At the Self Test Site, call the Tracker Self Test number –
082 237 5000 (standard cell phone rates apply). A prerecorded
voice will ask for your PIN number, as well as the unique number
of the test site (which will be displayed near the cashier or on
the window of the site).
It is important that you stay at the site for at least five
minutes after the call.
You will receive an SMS on your cell phone letting you know
whether or not the test was successful. Tracker will also
receive a notification for our records. It is advised that you
only test one vehicle at a time, because the test result SMS
does not contain any customer or vehicle specific information
(for security reasons).
If the test is unsuccessful, please contact Tracker on 0860
60 50 40 during office hours so that we can arrange a physical
inspection of the unit.
